MEET THE CHEF
Michael has had an incredible life of adventure, travel and faith.
"I was Raised up in the 'school of hard knocks'. I learned early on that if I had a job at a restaurant I could get at least one hot meal a day. It didn’t take long to come up through the ranks from prep cook to kitchen lead.
After several years paying my dues I had the chance to be formally trained as a Corporate Chef, and went on to run kitchens in several steak houses across the west.
In 1995 my wife and I left the corporate world and took over the food service for one of the oldest operating 'Dude' ranches in Wyoming, the Triangle X.
In 2001, with our 2 year old daughter, we left Jackson Hole to open our first restaurant, the original 'Mustard Seed Cafe' in Redmond, Oregon. After 2 years we were bursting at the seams and had to expand to a remolded 2 story farmhouse. The Mustard Seed Cafe went on to win several awards as Redmond’s best.
We then sold everything and set off for Nicaragua, Central America. As new Christians we felt the calling to use our talents in hospitality to serve missions teams visiting Nicaragua. We spent 12 years building a mission compound that fed, educated and housed thousands of people.
My wife and I have traveled around the world over the last 20 years. As foodies we have learned to love many foreign cuisines and look forward to sharing this passion with West Georgia."
